HSM3: Senior Year Review

The kids had the most wonderful time at HSM3: Senior Year yday. I took them (yes all three lol) with a friend of theirs and her mum. K was the youngest there it seems but he started dancing in the aisle during his fav songs LOL J1 singing off key wherever possible and avoiding the teen/tween girls who kept talking to him. LOL J2 watched happily and explaining all sorts of this to D, his friend who sat next to him. The mums had a good laugh and enjoyed the musical spectacle and the happy kids. No need think about plot etc, was a good brainless foot tapping fun. :) Ignoring the screaming tweens every time Zac had a close up or took his shirt off. LOL It was quite funny, the other boys kept shushing them LOL

at least it was a more lively crowd who cheered when it started, foot tapping etc. Rather unlike that crowd at the Harry Connick Jr show we went to hehehehehhehehee

we enjoyed ourselves very much lor :) I definitely needed that break. Afterwards, we went to the new Cold Storage in 1utama to get some stuff from the bakery. The kids danced and sang all the way there and back and wherever possible. Funnylah. :)

D is working again today. Time of the month for me too. Cranky betul. quiet day at home today for us anyway, esp after the excitement of yday LOL

Have a good wkend folks. SELAMAT MENYAMBUT HARI DEEPAVALI! May there be light and happiness in your life :)

Read this little snippet and chortle..

Here’s the original snippet.

Reproduced from the NST today:
Report against Tan lodged

Email to friend Email to Friend Print article Print Article

KUALA LUMPUR: A police report was lodged yesterday against Wanita Gerakan chief Datuk Tan Lian Hoe for allegedly making a seditious statement during her speech at the Gerakan annual general meeting on Oct 10.
The report against the Deputy Information Minister was lodged at the Cheras district police headquarters by Young Malay Graduates Pro-tem Committee president Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz at 11.30am.

“Tan had mentioned that the three main races in Malaysia had come from the Malay Archipelago, China and India.

“Although the statement is historically correct, the general conclusion makes it seem that the Malays should be equally treated as the Chinese and Indians and there is no need for the Malays to have any special privileges. “It is not right of Tan to make such a statement in her speech, and her remarks can stir up religious tension.”

Really do waste the police’s time huh. Do something about crimes instead lah. Or Mr Pro Tem should concentrate on improving Graduates Employability instead?

ah… Malaysia and her Sandiwaras..

Starting the reorganisation again

Made my first attempt for the landing, it’s going to take a while. Going thru the kids books (yes, I tend to do so many things simultaneously. Im just nuts lol) so they have a bit more room etc.

It’s looking better, but man, it’s an uphill task. At the moment, the kids books are all over the floor LOL I got dang tired about half way etc.

Hopefully it will come together soon. Amazing what you find when you look and you didnt know you had!

Love this poem

“And in end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”

(Maya Angelou poem)

‘MAYA ANGELOU’S’ BEST POEM EVER

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
enough
money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to…

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
something
perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams
wants to see her in an hour…

A WOMAN SHOULD
HAVE .
a youth she’s content to leave behind….

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a past juicy
enough that she’s looking forward to
retelling it in her
old age….

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra…

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
one friend who
always makes her laugh.. and one who lets her cry…

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
a good piece
of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her
family…

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
eight
matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for
a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored…

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .
a feeling of
control over her destiny..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD
KNOW…
how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
how to quit
a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend
without;
ruining the friendship…

EVERY WOMAN
SHOULD KNOW…
when to try harder… and WHEN TO WALK
AWAY…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that she can’t change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that her
childhood may not have been perfect…but it’s over…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she
would and wouldn’t do for love or more…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW….
how to live
alone… even if she doesn’t like it…

EVERY
WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. .
whom she can trust,
whom she can’t,
and why she shouldn’t take it personally…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
where to
go…
be it to her best friend’s kitchen table..
or a
charming Inn in the woods….
when her soul needs
soothing…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..
What she can and can’t accomplish in a day…
a
month…and a year…

Ok.. our latest approach on the Drama King Saga.

Cuddly Daddy and I talked over what to do next. I guess I’ve not been able to count to 10 (or 100!) very well lately, cos he admits that I do bear the main brunt of it all. I think the root cause of it is predominantly that he’s craving attention and daddy’s not been around. (mummy’s kinda boring u know lol).

So we decided to try this approach for a bit.

Don had a serious talk with him (it’s better from him at this stage) and they talked about how we don’t think he’s a bad boy at heart but we are worried about the lying/stealing/naughty behaviour of late. They talked about trust and what it means and how we really want to trust him, esp now he’s older but for now, you have to rebuild that trust. They discussed in what ways we can rebuild that trust.

So for this week, I will check his bag before and after school. Next week if his behaviour improves, we will only do spot checks. If his behaviour is good, he will get more privileges. This week, he will have no playground time at school and instead have to do either extra work or chores to help teacher.

I think he is more susceptible to peer pressre and I tell you, some of the toys etc that these kids have is exp and to me, not appropriate for kids. A PSP for goodness sake! So expensive and for a 6year old!!!!!!! They get teased cos they dont watch half of what the kids see or are allowed to watch. Josh will defend himself and say my mummy says Im not allowed to watch and that’s that. Jamie will whine at me and do the “I never get to have any fun!” line. (funny how tween/teen whining starts earlier!) I dont allow them to watch Batman (cos geez, that’s dark for ADULTS, let alone kids). Not every animation show is meant for kids. Im not as strict as my parents were but I’d rather do something else (although Im guilty of the occ TV babysitting!!). But these same kids dont get hugs and cuddles from parents, they have no interest in going out for exploration walks or doing crazy things by going to the park and trying to fly a kite etc. Even if I complain my kids are mall rats sometimes, they also enjoy doing this stuff. I think this is what they remember more than exp gifts etc. No value. no?

Having h ad a good talk with their teacher also helps us to think of ways to help them (not just j1). He’s such a bright fella who grasps concepts quickly but unfortunately boredom also sets in faster. Apparently he loves games, crossword puzzles, mazes etc so I think we will search for those (esp in BM, he needs help with that). I was telling d that I think we should set aside some time (mebbe sunday morning) to have a Family Game morning where each week someone chooses what game they want to play and we can do that. It’s something to do as a family as well as educational I guess. There’s apaprently scrabble in BM (EEK! lol) so have to cari.

We are also thinking of going away for a long weekend, just us as a family cos things have been so mad lately and d is working such long hours that it would be a nice bonding time :)

Whew! this is a long post. Im hoping this new approach (complimented by other things) will help!

Hafidz sent me this quote which I thought was perfect! “On your Drama King Saga entry, I just wanna repeat the quote found at the start of Lionel Shriver’s novel, “We Need to Talk About Kevin”:

A child needs your love most when he deserves it least. – Erma Bombeck”

Thanks Hafidz :) Have to take it each day as it comes I guess. Fingers crossed!

Thanks to everyone for their support/suggestions!

continuation of the Drama King Saga

Today was when I really lost it with j1.

I discovered at school that he had stolen (there really is no other word for it) my ipod from my bedside drawer and snuck it to school. Not only that, I eventually rifled through his bag to find foreign currency (not a lot, he’d taken it from my ultraman money box, yes I have one of those, he got bollocked cos he broke it) and their computer games. he STOLE it. I just went ballastic really. I was shaking so much with suppressed anger, it wasn’t even funny or worrisome or .. I dunno..

Im deeply disappointed, saddened etc. I’m really at a loss as to how to stomp these lessons into his head. He has to have some compelling reason (for a 6year old) to do so. I dunno what it is. He says it’s cos he wantd to listen to it, apparently he was bragging about it in the morning. I only found out cos the teacher told him not to bring his ipod to school anymore. Then I just lost it, in the school compound. I dunno if he’s even sorry, he’s gotten very good at giving me pat answers. Things he knows we would want to hear.

Short of sending him to military boarding school (I was very sorely tempted!!!), I dunno what to do. I’ve tried very hard to give them a good moral value system etc. He can even tell me of the boy who cried wolf story and why it was wrong and he was the same etc. URGHGHGHGHGHHGHGHGHGHGHGHGH….

I need a break. He needs something. I just dunno what. I need to search his bag each day. I don’t want to treat him like a lying, thieving fella.. but…. sigh..
