Interesting Conversations with my Kids: the Continuing Saga

Yesterday’s dinner convo with the Cuddly Kids went something like this:

We were having stir fried noodles with beef and baby carrots and bits of omelette. As we were eating, it went like this:

“I know what beef in BM is mum! Daging Lembu!”
(mum nods as she eats).

“That can’t be right mum, Lembu means COW!”

“J1, yes, beef is from cows”.

“ohhhh.”
(silence for a sec while we eat).

then J1 says: “what happens if you don’t have a heart?”
Mum stops eating. “What sort of question is that?” J2 stops shovelling food in mouth and says “You are dead.” (then goes back to shovelling food in mouth).

J1 explains that he once saw a pig’s heart on sale in a deli, wondered what happened to the pig. “He’s dead” (j2 goes back to eating). so we talk about how the heart pumps blood (and thus oxygen) to the whole body etc.

(subject covered, back to eating).

Then we talk about how animals don’t drink milk as such like us, only mammals as babies will drink milk from their mummies. Then j1 pipes up:

“If the first person to be born was born, what about his parents? If they’re the first person, where would they come from?”

mum stops eating and thinks. I thought… hmm Darwinism, theological/evolution would be a bit much I think. So my only answer was: “That is a questions that has puzzled scientists for years.Eat your dinner, please.”

And so we did. haha I kinda love these crazy questions that kids can throw at you cos wow.. heck of a lot of thinking power needed hehehehe

and yes, some people tell me that my kids are odd. Much like their mum!

What’s with the moralising..

Bernama seems to spend more time moralizing rather than actually good to honest reporting.

See here. Whether you agree with sex before marriage or homosexualilty or whatever, I just find the tone of the whole piece nauseating. It’s preaching doom and gloom and your body will be diseased and bits will fall off and you will become barren if you DARE “indulge” in pre marital sex/homosexuality/masturbation (well I’m waiting for an article on this, seems to be a trend LOL).

They should focus on highlighting all the crime/corruption and RUBBISH that’s happening in this country now. Oh doh! I forgot! They are a govt body, that means that they have no self-thought or initiative.

Can you tell that I’m feeling uncharitable today? LOL Well, when you read scandals like this, you have to feel uncharitable lah. How far does the rot go? It’s not a surprise but are we Malaysians going to be the same apathetic selves? Shrug our shoulders and say ‘haiya, that one we know alreadylah! Normal what!?” With attitudes like that, no wonder things got this far/bad and yet those idiots we seem to have in govt concern themselves with moralising and patronising you or sodomy. Smack em I tell you! Then again, why should they bother? They can muddle along, ruining the country but their cronies/families/themselves do very well for themselves.

And I don’t care whether PAS-UMNO unite or not. I want to see my elected reps go and kick some Parliament/state assembly arse. Simple as that. I’m fed up of the “we promise you this,I promise you that, I friend you, you friend me” rubbish. I want to see something being done about our crime rate, our education system, our economy, our inflation rate, you know.. things within our DAILY LIVES. They may claim that the fuel prices may drop soon (from this report) and whether you want subsidise us for 10 more years, what are you doing to meet this energy crisis? Solar farms/wind farms? Noooo let’s look at nuclear. It’s more cost effective, environmentally wise esp. Not that I’m a tree hugging rabid greenie but please lah…

Saw this on education today. Heard about the “test pilot project” but nothing about the progress, what are the teething problems etc? Nothing. Well, interesting to see what my Js will go through next year.

Approach me with caution today I will admit.

Cleared another cupboard!

I attacked the shoe cupboard/key cupboard and it’s neat Now I can find things!

D is back now, excited kids LOL ON the other hand, j1’s got some red dots appearing on forehead and arms. No fever, good appetite, sleeping ok. He’s got worsening excema on his feet and a corn too! And he’s only 6 years old (almost). apalah.

I think I’m not going to do anything more clearing-wise today. Tired wei!

More loose teeth in the Cuddly Household

J1 has YET ANOTHER loose tooth. other side of upper row. Now he has one on either side.

J2 is so thrilled cos now he FINALLY has a loose tooth, lower row, at side.

The Spare room is done :)

YAY!!!!!!! Another decluttering task to tick off! And a major one at that!

the charity guys are coming. Friends are coming to get things. It’s neat. Clear. Dust Free.

Exhausting work but dang, feels good Today, resting a bit haha Till daddy comes home anyway.

Then it’s the landing next! Then kitchen. Then office and the last of our bedroom. Then I think that’s it! I for one will be dang glad. I have a feeling though, that I’d have to reorganise the toys more often though but the Cuddly Kids are going to help, dang it!

j2 is better, whew! He’s still having his puffs but only twice a day now.

We stopped by the aquarium shop today (Got a feeder timer for when we are away). We hadn’t planned to get more fish but J2 argued vehemently about how variety is good for a community (he learnt about the word ‘variety’ yday and we had always discussed doing things for the community). How could I resist? hehe We got some more of those orange TK fish and some neon tetras. They have this shiny blue stripe down their flanks. Add a nice colourful touch to the tanks. The one in the office doesn’t need the light on that often cos it’s much brighter here. The one in the living room isnt on if its a sunny day but otherwise yeah. I’ve been switching it off at night but I will switch it off when kids are in school, having it on at certain times only. Otherwise elec bill even more painful wei! Asked Min to reduce the number of guppies she is passing over to us otherwise overcrowded (since guppies are breeding geniuses LOL)! It’s so nice to see the swimming fish, peaceful sounds of the water.. I sound like a hippy Earth Mama!!! hahaha

The house is slowly taking shape now, thankfully. Easier to clean and find things now. I definitely will be glad when it’s all done, at least the main decluttering! Going through the kids things, especially the baby things, made me nostalgic, brooding and then amazed about how much stuff we actually have. Major PILES of stuff! I kept the sentimental things, gifts from family etc. Even if we have no:4, we have more than enough clothes haha If we have a girl, she’s going to be in more blues than pinks Anyway at this age, I don’t think it will matter or I’m going to do what’s practical!

ok, time to spend some cuddlies with the munchkins. No more decluttering for today! August is going to be a mad month (again)!!! Weekends more so. Agreed with Cuddly Hubby that I need a weekend off to myself, now to plan for it Probably only in Sept if that HAHAHA

Cuddly fish tank no:2 is set up!

I took the smaller tank to the aquarium shop today, got the necessary “accessories” etc. Got four more fish, this time some fish called TK fish. Since Im going to “steal” four guppies from the big tank when the smaller tank is ready for fish (by tomorrow), I thought I’d replace them with these fish (they were out of tetras, I didnt feel like visiting the shop AGAIN tomorrow to get them). It’s looking funky I find it so soothing and peaceful, fortunately d agrees

J1 is a bit better after having his puffer (sent Cuddly Hubby to the pharmacy yday to top up the ventolin), more rest etc today. Cuddly hubby has gone to “build team spirit” with his company up in Genting this weekend. Am going to attack the spare room over next two days, EEK! That’s going to be a long job I tell you. Fortunately D will be back after lunch sometime tomorrow.

What’s left with the reorganisation/decluttering? Hmm. Office, spare room, landing, kitchen, some areas of our bedroom. I’ve really got to store the DVDs in books leh. Easier to clean and store sigh. Takes up less room lagi. I’ve told Cuddly Hubby that I have to finish up the decluttering before I can concentrate on work etc cos with j2’s reaction to the dust etc, it HAS to be done! Tough if he has to help me, he has less stuff to do

Hopefully j2 will be back on track by next week Ok enough with the procrastinating! Time to get to it

Got our elec bill today.

the new rate is about RM150-160 more than usual. Yet we are using LESS. It doesnt seem fair does it.. We’ve been doing more to save elec consumption but end up paying WAY WAY more lately… sigh… We’ve been doing debt consolidation and budget tightening etc and yet…

and then the PM says ok to Mercs for the Terengganu state exco. And then say we had to be grateful compared to.. somewhere else in the world..

on the upside, we are using the 2nd smaller fish tank, accessoring it tomorrow Will put min’s fish in it.. it’s quite peaceful and soothing.. so need that these days…
