How was his first day?
I had to pick him up early, not cos he was bawling but he’s worn out! lol apparently he was very good, cried when Js went upstairs but he settled down it seems.. he played nicely with the materials (mostly by himself, expected at this age), ate his snack well.. even listened to instruction pretty well… then he was getting tired (I had rung the school to see how he was, principal suggested he’s had enough for today) When I got there, he was not crying but looked very sleepy lol took him home, teacher told me she was surprised and impressed how well he settled down and behaved, esp since he’s not yet 18mths.. so she told me thats a good sign for when hes older… so whew!
He gave me a big hug, wave bye bye to teacher and then pointed to school and said “ool! ool!” My tired lil man LOL there is a 20mth old there but he’s accompanied by the maid, after he turns 2, no more maid they said. am hoping that by doing this once in a while, he’s ok with the idea after he’s 2 or when h e’s more ready.. the peace this morning was quite blissful
I’ve got to pick up the Js soon but k is happy thankfully! good trial run I reckon
Is life with young kids ever free of incidents?
No.. definitely not…For example:
J1 has a tendency to leave the kiddie gate open (despite repeated reminders!), k sneaked in while my back was turned and went to the water dispenser and switched on the hot water tap, I turned at the sound of water and he stuck his hand in! He quickly pulled out hand and I hurriedly ran cold water over his hand. It was very red, he cried from time to time but only when he tried to pick up things or cuddle… We still went to breakfast cos he was ok… but he couldnt settle down so I took him to the paed which is in the same area while don and boys stayed at breakfast and went for hair cut. Poor boy screamed his head off while he was being treated. THe paed said its only superficial and he had cream to “cool” the pain and some painkiller meds. He had his hand wrapped mostly cos to stop him from wiping off the cream and I had to repeat the cream etc for next 24 hours. After lunch, he was his usual jolly self, clambering everywhere, cheery and happy… we took a look at his hand and its gaining normal colour, only a bit of pink between the fingers, I applied cream again and again before bedtime.. I think it’s still a bit tender but he’s ok, at least in himself…
That was yday. Today he’s fine, save for some pink areas deep inbetween the fingers so cream and hand wrap again.. and I sent him for his trial run at school today anyway.. the Js are very proud LOL and he even waved goodbye to me.. well, we shall see if I get a phonecall.. Its just once in a while anyways till he’s nearer 2.. but tell u what.. oh the peace and quiet… and no kids TV hehehehhe..
onwards to whatever I wanna do!!
New niece born today!
Baby Kayley joined the family today, 3kg, 13:45pm, csection. Today is also her mum’s bday
Took the kids to see the baby today, josh kissed her head a few times, and k would either pat her (a bit roughly at first) and yell BABEEEEEEEEE… or try and push her “trolley” thing.. LOL So cute! It was nice to see and get some pix of the family. CONGRATULATIONS to the proud mummy and daddy!
HAPPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. Cuddly :)
yes, today is Mr. Cuddly himself’s birthday..
Happy birthday hubby of mine.. We had a lovely evening with the cronies (thanks p.o for making it during your biz trip!), ate a lot, the cake was FAB (thanks Min! She takes orders) and laughed and kidded around, it was great
Hope you had a great start to your birthday lovie!
What Ugga said to me yday:
Ugga: Do you know what I want to see you write a fantasy piece with a female lead on a journey to accomplish some mission
overcome amazing odds, encountering friends and foes, overcoming her shortcomings to defeat the evil king or something like that, a real mythic structured story? I want to see you write from a set structure: and I think you would do a great job on something like that.. etc..
Lia: Errr… ok….
(sorry Ugga LOL)
I woke up this morning from a dream that had action, romance, conflict, flaming swords, fighting and a female character, flawed yet with the right amount of “STUFF”… and my first thought was: (ok ok maybe my 2nd thought after being woken by kids) OOOH THATS MY STORY right there… weird or what.. NOt sure if I will write script or prose… I havent written prose in the longest time…
Now it’s just to get to writing it… hmmmmmmm……..
Ahh… Does a soul good to start creating again…
After a LONG hiatus, I finally got some “kick” to get back into writing (and maybe colouring eventually)…
Here’s my latest script (a take on the Little Red Riding Hood tale). This is for a PencilJack.com’s writing lab writing contest (yay we are now at no:17!!!!)…
TITLE: Hell has no fury like Little Red….
BY: ANGELIA ONG
Page 1
Panel 1- The scene opens up in a heavily wooded forest. It has recently rained. You see the tail end of a red cape disappearing (right of panel) and a set of muddy footprints but don’t actually see any person.
CAPTION-IT HAS BEEN FOREWRITTEN THAT I MUST KEEP THESE FORESTS SAFE…
Panel 2- Flashback to a cosy room (low beams, thatch roof) with a roaring fire. It’s fairly spartan, wooden table, chairs and partial view of a bed.. Looks very homey.
CAPTION- IT IS MY HERITAGE..
Panel 3- a large wolf with glowing red eyes is feasting on the lower half of an elderly female body with a nightcap on her white curls and long sleeved nightgown lying on the bed from above scene. It’s blood and carnage everywhere.
CAPTION- TO KILL THOSE WHO PREY ON THE OLD AND HELPLESS..
Panel 4- we see the same wolf now cut into two with an axe sticking out from his throat. Blood everywhere. Strange blue smoke escaping from the wounds.
CAPTION- A WOODCUTTER’S AXE WOULD BE THE TRADITIONAL WEAPON OF CHOICE FOR ONE SUCH AS I… MAXIMUM DAMAGE, MINIMUM EFFORT…
Panel 5- A fresh grave with a simple headstone with “Granny” on it. On top of this headstone lies the bloodied nightcap and a folded red hooded cap on top of the grave.
CAPTION- BUT SOMETIMES I ARRIVE TOO LATE TO SAVE THE VICTIMS OF THIS EVIL..
Page 2
Panel 1- We see the blue smoke from the quartered wolf from the previous panel gathering to form a particular humanoid shape.
CAPTION- THERE ARE MANY OF MY KIND WHO HAVE TRIED TO FIND WAYS TO RID OUR FORESTS OF THIS RECURRING SCURGE..
Panel 2- An wolf-like human with elongated fangs and glowing eyes finally emerges from the smoke.
CAPTION- BUT WITHOUT MUCH SUCCESS…
Panel 3- (large) The terrifying sight of the wolf creature, snarling, as it attempts to tear down the door to a peasant’s cottage.
CAPTION- AND SO WE START OVER AGAIN…
Page 3
Panel 1/2/3- Split panels (into 3), 3 different grannies faces frozen in fear.
CAPTION- MORE LIVES LOST…
Page 4
Panel 1- We see the Wolf creature inside another cosy cottage, a granny feebly holding out a burning torch in front of her, as if to ward off this crazed creature.
GRANNY- SHOO! SHOO!
WOLF- [GROWL] FOOLISH WOMAN…
Panel 2- We see a woodcutter’s axe flying through the air, its sharp metal blade glinting in the light..
SFX- phfftttt…………
Panel 3-the wolf creature is cut across the neck, clean into two..
CAPTION- BUT NOT THIS TIME…..
Panel 4- The granny (over our shoulder view) is looking grateful as the wolf;s body is being dragged out her front door.
CAPTION- I WILL PUT A STOP TO THIS SENSELESS CARNAGE..
Panel 5- Again the blue smoke dissipating around the snarling wolf creature stepping over the wolf body.
Page 5
Panel 1- the wolf is shocked by a swinging sword blade bathed in a red glow, moves to avoid it.
Panel 2- The wolf is in mid leap towards (its back to us) a small shadowy figure in a hooded cloack holding the glowing red sword.
WOLF-[GROWL] YOU CANNOT KILL ME…
Panel 3- The wolf;s chest has been pierced through with the glowing sword, flames are all around the wound..
WOLF-.. WHAT.. MANNER OF WEAPON IS THIS…
Panel 4- We now see the shadowy figure in a red cloak removing the hood, revealing a beautiful young girl (around 12 years old) with brown hair and cold brown eyes.
GIRL- A SWORD OF FIRE… HURTS DOESN’T IT?
Panel 5- the wolf is being consumed by the flames.. The young girl looks coldly at the burning flesh, unmoved.
WOLF- AAAAAAAHHHH… WHO.. ARE… YOU…
Panel 6- (small) close of the coldly smiling young girl.
GIRL- THEY CALL ME… LITTLE RED….
Panel 7- the young girl still smiling coldly as she pulls out the flaming sword from the dead wolf…
GIRL- AND I DON’T NEED NO WOODCUTTER TO SAVE ME FROM A WOLF..
-Fin-
So… what shall I rant about today..so many choices….
Here are some folks trying to get a online petition going reg: the haze:
Doesnt it make you mad that everytime the govt will point fingers elsewhere, tell us to seek divine intervention (the good old act of God routine u know), pray for rain, blah blah blah blah… but no money to clean it up (it cant ALL be our neighbouring country’s fault u know, I bet there are some homegrown malaysian pollutants helping things along)… but can spend RM490million on a London sports complex which would prob turn into a white elephant cos we wont have enough sports people to take part (they’ve either lost all their padangs, local sports complexes fallen into disrepair or they’ve collapsed and choked to death on the Haze)… NOw here’s an alternative thought: Our athletes so used to polluted air, they go to places with fresh air for competitions and then pengsan! (oh wait.. dont they do that anyway?! hehehehe)… So THAT’s what the sports complex is for “Fresh Air Conditioning!” Then, possibly make sense hor..
Saw in the papers today that this guy who suffers from siniutis (sp?) goes away to phuket with his family till haze clears… nice if you can do that.. don suffers from the above, where is it possible for him to do that? Do they want to wait till 1997/98 levels????
Mr Close one Eye very bold and unrepentent and unREPRIMANDED while no: 1 goes on opening koi farms, attending weddings, the occ. international forum where he was too busy to discuss various issues with the No:1 Big Idiot, Giving us nice fatherly advice and issuing some directive or another while no:2 (and another Aging Youth and SonInLaw, as PT so aptly puts it) seems to be dictating national policy and the race card.. Preaching racial harmony is never the same as living it daily.. Tolerence is not enough, acceptance is best… but hey… I cant blog about the other stuff concerning us these days, nanti kena ISA (remember, the headline “BLOGGERS BE WARNED”)… hahahhahahha..
Talking about inconsiderate, stupid people… Today k and I went to the “Swedish” mall… Found one of those extra wide “family” carparking spots (which brings me to another point “Why do cars WITH ONE PERSON in them park in these spots?” Or a couple park there… because? MALAS to walk soooo far mahhh… curses at these people) anyway, when k and I were done, I returned to our parking spot… what did I discover? Someone had “cleverly” parked INBETWEEN the two family parking spots, barely giving us enough room to open our doors. Fortunately it wasn’t on k’s side but I wouldnt have bothered being so careful in opening my car door.. u stupid enough to park like that, I stupid enough not to care if your car kena my door.. hurmph… if I had the Js with me, habis trying to get everyone in! The guard’s tude was.. Shrug.. Page them, they dont come, how… APATHY, everywhere APATHY.. What if I had someone in a wheelchair or frail person who needed help(and no disabled spots left), how on earth do I get them in? you TELL ME… That was when I wished I had a camera phone and take that person’s sodden inconsiderateness, licence plate included)..
Seeing my kids all cooped up inside, couldnt even do lantern festival with them (just in case the candles in their traditional lantern sets off a chemical reaction from the gunk in the air) nemind they could BREATHE that gunk in… They dont understand it that much, k is too young but anyone would get cranky from being cooped up inside.. then our electricity bills will go up cos must use a/c otherwise we’d suffocate ourselves.. Then TNB declares another price hike (cost of production gone up mah.. not enough Mercs for our directors u know..)… Again, go and see PT’s blog on the haze etc.. It tells it all so much better…
So what legacy ARE we leaving for our kids?
